In this workshop I will demonstrate how to construct a watercolor paper pendant. Using the readily available and simple materials of watercolor paper, glue and paint, it is possible to build uniquely beautiful and durable jewelry objects, and the ease at which paper can be formed and worked creates unlimited design possibilities. In addition to using free flowing watercolors, the piece can also be finished with decorative papers or designs painted with acrylics. You can also explore the possibilities of adding texture. By incorporating materials such as salt, rice, sand and threads into the painted surface, beautifu textural and color effects can be achieved. The actual pendant is constructed from layers of 140lb watercolor paper, and finished by the application of transparent acrylic varnish. The layering process of construction results in a final creation that is durable and long lasting. The techniques used to create the watercolor paper pendant can also be used to make bracelets, earrings and hairpieces. Time: Requires 6 hour workshop Materials: 140lb cold pressed, Arches Watercolor Paper |
